L.A. Rams interested in Peyton Manning
While the writing is on the wall for Super Bowl 50 to be the final game in the legendary career of Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, there’s no definite confirmation that the future Hall of Famer is ready to retire.
Manning has reportedly already told his close friends that Super Bowl 50 will be his last game, but has yet to announce anything publicly.
But if Manning soon to be the oldest quarterback to play in a Super Bowl – wants to suit up again next season, the Rams are apparently willing to be an option. Broncos fans are quick to point out that number 18 is under contract with Denver for next year, though those are likely the same fans who think that the team should move forward with Brock Osweiler as their quarterback.
If all that does happen, the Rams would then have their chance to sign Peyton Manning.
Schefter added in his report that the Rams are “monitoring” Manning and if he plans to play one more season, he might have options of where to end his career.
Rams coach Jeff Fisher said at his season-ending news conference that Case Keenum is the team’s starter entering the offseason and Nick Foles and Sean Mannion will be around to compete.
Imagine the Seattle Seahawks facing Peyton Manning twice next season.
Quarterback has been a position of inconsistency for the Rams the past few years. Though he has avoided turning the ball over thus far in the postseason, Manning, who has been hobbled by injuries for several seasons now, threw 17 interceptions and just nine touchdowns in the regular season, and had 6.8 yards per attempt.
