Léa Seydoux & Monica Bellucci Step Forward In New ‘Spectre’ Featurette
The ‘Spectre’ team have given James Bond fans another sneak behind-the-scenes, posting a vlog that focuses on Monica Bellucci and Léa Seydoux’s characters. 007’s latest outing, Spectre, has a new featurette that sheds some light on the role the still-fairly-mysterious Bond ladies will play in its storyline and, potentially, the emotional life of Daniel Craig’s agent.
Mendes explained the reasons he cast the two actresses: “In Spectre, the two women who Bond hooks up with – both have great mystery, they both have depths and for that you need fantastic actresses”. “And I just thought, Monica Bellucci: It makes sense for the story”. Plus the 30-year-old Seydoux was ideal because she wasn’t a newcomer.
Seydoux, whose character Madeleine Swann is the second Bond girl in the film, said: “She’s a doctor, she’s intelligent and a very sensitive and human character”. “And I think it’s a pivotal relationship”. Here’s the official synopsis: “A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation”.
Meanwhile back in London, Max Denbigh (Scott), the new head of the Centre for National Security, questions Bond’s actions and challenges the relevance of MI6, led by M (Fiennes).
“Lea Seydoux’s character (Madeleine Swann, daughter of Bond’s old nemesis Mr White) needed to be soulful, feisty and complicated, she’s the whole package”. As the daughter of an assassin, she understands Bond in a way most others can not.
Spectre, also starring Andrew Scott, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Jesper Christensen, is set for release in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on November 6, 2015.
