La La Land awarded Best Picture Oscar by ACCIDENT
Despite the title of this article, I’ll be a bit disappointed if she goes home with this Oscar, but I never want to count her out or say that she’s undeserving.
The Gos was in his own la la land all night. She promised to find everyone who worked on the film and all of her friends to thank them once the feeling reentered her body. “Bring them up here.’ And I just absolutely love all of those folks up there”.
“I f*cking loved Moonlight”, she said per Entertainment Weekly.
“Of course it was an unbelievable thing to hear La La Land”, Stone said. Moonlight, which centers on an oppressed gay black man living in Miami is also the first film centering on black characters to win Best Picture that isn’t explicitly about racism and/or slavery. I’m so grateful to have been involved in this film and thank you for your faith and your patience and such a wonderful experience.
The awful end to an otherwise triumphant show left the audience gasping in horror, stunned by the mishap – which appeared to have been caused by Beatty opening the wrong envelope. Ryan Gosling, thank you for making me laugh and always raising the bar and being the best partner on this insane adventure.
The Gos, in typical Gos style, thought the whole thing was pretty amusing as he tries his best to hide the trademark smirk creeping across his face. Beatty said his card said “Emma Stone, “La La Land” on it.
In the press room, Emma Stone said, “I was holding my Best Actress in a leading role card all the time”.
Viewers have gone back to zoom in on the exact moment when Emma Stone and Damien Chazelle realize, amid all the acceptance speeches onstage, what had actually happened.
Addressing her fellow nominees, Stone said: “It has been the greatest honour just to stand alongside you, that is the greatest honour of all”. “I’m so excited for Moonlight!”. “Casey Affleck was awarded the 2017 Oscar in the Best Actor in a Leading Role for the film ‘Manchester by the Sea”. After a moment of historic confusion, producer Jordan Horowitz held up the real card, which declared “Moonlight” the victor.
“It was a hard situation, there’s no doubt about that”, Horowitz told ET on the red carpet of the post-Oscars Governors Ball. “You get a connection that you don’t get in any other way”, he added.
“I didn’t even know what to do”, Ali tells ABC News” Amy Robach.
