Labour boots out 1200 fake ‘members’ trying to hijack leadership contest
Jeremy Corbyn is the shock leader in the race to become the next leader of the Labour Party, but while he may bring it more in line with its traditional beliefs, he will take it further away from power.
Liz Kendall trails on 8%.
Mr Corbyn suggested that he wanted to “keep fossil fuels in the ground” as he unveiled his energy policy, as reported in the Telegraph.
Corbyn is on a UK-wide tour before the leadership vote opens at the end of this week, following the resignation of Ed Miliband after a disastrous result in the General Election in May.
LEIGH MP and Labour leadership frontrunner Andy Burnham has launched his manifesto, promising to “lift the millstone of debt” from young people. “But we are going ahead”.
As exhausted – and in some cases, fractious – as the leadership campaigns themselves are, Labour party activists and MPs are even more bored of the whole thing.
“This shows there is nothing new about Jeremy Corbyn’s politics”. He said: “I’ve seen Stella at work and she’s a truly great, fresh, energetic Labour campaigner of the kind that the party really needs to connect with women and men of all ages and backgrounds across the country”. Life had moved on from the old Clause Four in 1994, let alone 2015. As a party we accepted that because we always accepted that there is a place for mavericks but if the maverick becomes the leader who called for individual judgment to be used over and above collective decision making then the message is clear.
We don’t know – some of those reasons I think are malign.
“So we need to focus on the big challenges we have and look to the future with new ideas and fresh ideas and that’s what I have to offer”. “He says we need some forms of discussion about public ownership objectives for the 21st century”.
The campaign team for shadow health secretary Andy Burnham declined to comment on Corbyn’s suggestion that Labour could readopt Clause IV, which was originally drafted in 1918 during the party’s early years of existence. “She is best placed to unite the party and position Labour for victory in the 2020 election”.
Jeremy Corbyn is now the “red-hot favourite” for the Labour leadership, with bookmakers slashing their odds after an opinion poll indicated he was on course for victory. “I want this to be over sooo badly” was another.
An additional 70,000 registered supporters, who each paid £3, and 92,000 affiliated supporters from trade unions and other groups with links to Labour, will make up the rest of the electorate.
The sneaky rivals tried to join Labour so they could vote in the party’s upcoming leadership election.
The actual voting procedures were amended earlier this year and I do not propose to go into them here.
