Lacy, Starks lead Packers past Cowboys

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) – With his offense mired by inconsistency this season, Packers coach Mike McCarthy decided to make a change this week. Asked about play-calling on Friday, a day after the Packers’ stunning victory at Detroit, McCarthy said, “I need to shut up more, frankly”.

“I think we made a point of doing it”, Rodgers said. “The clock is winding down with only three games left”.

Rodgers said he retains the opportunity to change plays at the line of scrimmage and get the Packers into “the best situation possible when I feel it’s needed”. Based on the statistics from this season, I think it’s time Cowboys fans stop blaming their quarterback, and start blaming their disappointing superstar receiver. “It’s been about the execution. So, that’s something that we’re all conscientious of, and it’s just to make sure we’re trying to give Tom the support that he needs there”. “We had a challenge today against a good football team at their place”.

If not for the improbable Hail Mary at the end of the Lions game, the Packers would be 1-5 in their last six games.

After making the score 14-7 on Robert Turbin’s touchdown run in the third quarter, the Cowboys had three drives to tie the score and picked up one first down.

These two sides met in the postseason last season, and the Packers eliminated the Cowboys thanks to a controversial call involving Dallas’ Dez Bryant, but winning their respected divisions will be on the players’ minds not last seasons matchup.

Dallas cut a 14-0 deficit in half in the third quarter by taking the ball out of the hands of Cassel.

However, Aaron Rodgers couldn’t convert a quarterback sneak on the fourth and goal at the 1/2 yard line as the Cowboys defensive front stopped him with 1:00 left in the first quarter.

Darren McFadden had 111 yards on nine carries.

Extremely deliberate in his reads, his dropback and his delivery, Cassel couldn’t even take advantage of a run game that generated 171 yards. A four-game suspension for defensive end Greg Hardy and another injury to rookie pass rusher Randy Gregory.

Cassel, starting his sixth game for the injured Tony Romo, was 13 of 29. Bryant finished with one catch for 9 yards.

The latest reversal wasn’t as big a deal to Bryant.

Dallas was forced to punt after the replay reversal and Green Bay scored on its next possession.

The Packers ran 81 total plays with eight different players getting at least one reception. Rodgers led the ground attack with 27 yards while Eddie Lacy gained just four yards on five carries after running for over 100 in each of the two games prior.

Eddie Lacy and James Starks fueled a powerful running game. Let’s hope the rain doesn’t play too much of a factor and the Packers are able to succumb to Mother Nature this time. Jason Witten led with 5 receptions for 40 yards. Instead, Rodgers skipped away, bowed his neck and picked up 11 and the first down.
