Lady Gaga’s dream comes true
After her outstanding performance, Gaga made sure to celebrate, posting a video on Twitter of herself dancing her heart out while Coldplay, Beyoncé and Bruno Mars dominated the stage during their halftime show. And if her huge, southern belle-hair wasn’t a blatant homage to Dolly Parton then I don’t what is. The last male singer to deliver the Anthem at the Super Bowl was Billy Joel, in 2007.
And never one to let her voice do all the talking, Gaga totally killed it in the style department too, matching her eye make-up with her trouser suit!
She’d previously hailed singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl as a “dream come true” and even managed to bring some of the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers players to tears. One of the big prop bets of the day was the over/under for the length of the national anthem sung by Lady Gaga.

Gaga opened the show at Levi’s stadium in Santa Clara, California, with a gospel-inflected performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner”. She goes, ‘This is a big deal, isn’t it?’ I go, ‘Yeah, yeah babe.
This time, the recent Golden Globe victor took about two minutes, 21 seconds getting the Levi’s Stadium crowd warmed up. Among various moments that she loved about the event, her favorite one was when she closed the anthem, looked up and saw jets fly overhead in a formation.
The 29-year-old sounded like she was born for the gig. She is the first artist to ever perform a trio of performances in the same year – The Super Bowl 50, the 88th Grammy Awards scheduled to air on February 15 and the Oscars 2016 on February 28. She was preceded by the Armed Force Chorus, who performed “America the handsome”.
