Lady Gaga’s Tribute To David Bowie At The Grammys Was Wildly Entertaining
“GG is talented but that “tribute” missed the spirit of Bowie entirely”, said another fan.
The pop icon’s son sent out a cryptic – yet stinging – tweet following Gaga’s much-praised performance in honour of his father.
In a message posted late Monday, Duncan Jones shared the Oxford English dictionary definition of the word, “Gaga”. “Damn it! What IS that word!?”, Jones tweeted.
She said: ‘When I was 19 years old…
The “Born This Way” singer’s performance was definitely the highlight of her tribute, but she’s been finding ways to pay homage to the legendary singer throughout the week.
“This was the image that changed my life”, Lady Gaga captioned a Snapchat video of the inking session.
The singer – who is engaged to actor Taylor Kinney – was accompanied on stage with Nile Rodgers who produced the multi-platinum album Let’s Dance.
She continued: “In this performance, it is important for me to continue to build upon something that he was truly the first person to do”.
Watching Lady Gaga deliver that performance, I felt like David Bowie was channeling through her. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if that was the case.
David Bowie died on January 10 after battling with cancer for 18 months. “The world loves you David”, she wrote on her Instagram page. Gaga took the whole audience on a musical tour throughout Bowie’s entire career complete with a giant spider as she sang “Space Oddity”.
While she hasn’t responded to Jones, Gaga can’t be too pleased with his response as she said in the run-up to the show that Bowie was one her idols growing up. “I want people to have the experience of being a David Bowie super-fan, because that’s a wonderful thing”.
“We did what no thoughtful parents should do and let him move to Los Angeles at age 17”, Bennett joked.
