Lady Gaga sings national anthem

She told the NFL Network: “It’s such an honour, and a total dream come true”.

Gaga also recalled re-watching iconic performances to prepare her for her big gig. She gave a stellar performance of the national anthem backed with just a piano accompaniment and an Air Force jets flyover finale while thumping her chest (similar to a Celine Dion chest pound manner) that left the crowd with goose bumps.

Following her flawless rendition of the US National Anthem the 29-year-old was clearly in a hyped up mood and was filmed crawling around on all fours as she barked and cuddled her canine pals. Prior to her performance, she teased her mismatched shoes for the show. Gaga joins the ranks of other performances such as Idina Menzel, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Billy Joel, Cher, Neil Diamond.

Over the weekend, Gaga sat down for an intimate interview with Nate Burleson from the National Football League, where she called the opportunity to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl the “highest honor of [her] career”.

Flawless, gentle and honest, it was an astounding delivery from a well acclaimed star who sparkled in a glittery red suit with matching eyeshadow, vivid blue nails and USA flag heels. The Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers faced off. The Broncos won.

“I think it marks what being an American is all about – working hard and the ultimate payoff for the champion is hard work”, she said.

Lady Gaga sang the national anthem before the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 7.

This month will be a big one for Gaga.

Earlier in the day, Gaga teased her Little Monsters with a preview of her patriotic Gucci heels, which were custom-made by the brand’s creative designer, Alessandro Michele. But the “Born This Way” star does have one thing going for her – Gaga sang the song live.
