Lagos dismisses new case of Lassa fever
A male patient who tested positive to the Lassa Fever virus according to disease was reported to have escaped from a hospital in Ebonyi state to an unknown destination.

Speaking further, he said, the doctors, the primary healthcare workers and other workers are allowed to go home and report for duty daily and they are being checked.
In a related development, the minister announced that six most affected states will have Lassa fever diagnostic centres.
The council observed that unlike Ebola, Lassa fever is treatable if detected early, stressing that there were adequate treatment centres in the country. Samples has been taken from her and we are still waiting for the results of the test.
Odagme also said that government was renovating the main treatment centre at Odohia, in Emohua LG, used to attend to Ebola patients two years ago.
“Members of the public should promote good community and personal hygiene by keeping their environment clean, ” she told NAN, expressing gratitude to God that the state has not recorded a case.
She explained efforts being made by the state government to prevent the spread of the virus.
Vanguard gathered from sources close to the hospital that the late doctor died after vomiting blood within the hospital premises.
An atmosphere of fear had enveloped the Obafemi Awolowo University community as news of the doctor’s demise filtered around.
Nriah further disclosed that the state government was doing everything within its powers to ensuring that the state is free of the disease saying “on the sensitization, we have covered most churches and mosques”.
In a statement confirming the death, the Chairman, OAUTHC, Professor Adedeji Onayade, said the fact that the doctor bled to death could not be taken to mean he died of Lassa Fever.
