Lake Owner: Homeowners Still Evacuating, Beaver Dam Stabilized
Officials have been watching dam and warning people that they could be in danger. However, he now says that report had not been fully checked out, and that there is not structural damage.

On Tuesday, Richard County Sheriff Leon Lott told reporters at a press conference that if evacuation is deemed mandatory, his deputies will forcibly remove people from their homes. Two other people were killed in North Carolina. Classes have been canceled, but the dorms on campus still have electricity and Wi-Fi.
The area most affected by floodwaters is the Forest Acres area of Columbia. The Richland County government had sent out alerts by email and social media shortly after 9 a.m. saying the dam had been breached.
Authorities in South Carolina are still working to stabilize a Richland County dam that was compromised as a result of historic flooding. Three others inside the truck were able to escape to safety, said Lieutenant Curtis Wilson. Richland County authorities told local news outlets an 82-year-old man who had been missing was found dead in his vehicle Monday. “The long duration of the high water is putting pressure on the earthen dams to the point of failure”.
The Emergency Management Division says a reverse 911 call went out just before 10:45 p.m. Tuesday urging residents within a half-mile radius of Beaver Dam to seek higher ground immediately.
A relentless stream of heavy rain has been pouring over the same areas in South Carolina for almost 24 hours, dumping record breaking amounts of precipitation over much of the state.
