Lakers’ Bryant will try to play through injury against Warriors
It’s unclear whether Kobe Bryant will play Thursday night against the Warriors, and in some ways, it doesn’t really matter.
Scott is deferring to Bryant when it comes to making decisions about him playing, but the head coach admitted there needs to be a compromise when it comes to minutes.
It’s a battle between two struggling teams as the Los Angeles Lakers host the New Orleans Pelicans at the Staples Center in the regular season of the National Basketball Association. The Lakers will likely have a short leash with their star veteran if his Achilles appears to be slowing him up.
But once everything worked out, the Lakers were able to select the 17-year-old Bryant.
Bryant has previously suffered a ruptured Achilles so this may be more of a concern for him than most which is why the Lakers will be extra careful with him.
“He said he felt good yesterday”.
“It’s been fun to watch the [Warriors’] progression … and watching how the fans stuck by the team”, Bryant said, offering kind words in the absence of a rivalry or wildly memorable scoring nights here.
Yet this is also the place where Bryant produced his first career 50-point game, when he scored 51 on December 6, 2000, at Oracle Arena – his highest output ever here.
I said, “You’re going to have to learn how to play with your teammates”. Then if he says, ‘Coach, I want to play, ‘ then we have to have another discussion on how long he can play, how many minutes. He wound up logging 28 minutes and left the court for the final time with 3:04 left to a standing ovation and chants of “Kobe!”
As for the Pelicans, it seems like a tough road ahead as they try to get back to the playoff picture. New Orleans shot better from the floor and from three and had more rebounds, assists, blocks, points in the paint and fast break points. But Gentry said Davis’ absence had little to do with the Tuesday’s loss to the Lakers.
There are millions of kids throughout the world that you have inspired to be another Kobe Bryant. You get two of them, and Kobe Bryant has already torn the left one. According to that timetable, Bryant would miss anywhere between four to seven games.
The Lakers’ Kobe Bryant has averaged 25.57 points per game against the Warriors in his 20-season career, more than against any other team.
Notes: The Warriors gifted Bryant a five-star stay in Napa Valley as a parting gift.
Lakers: F Brandon Bass didn’t play because of a sore right foot…. Harrison Barnes scored 12 points for his fourth straight game in double figures and fifth in six.
