Lallana excited about Klopp
“I have no intention whatsoever to lure Dortmund’s stars to Liverpool”, Klopp told German publication Bild.
Klopp, whose first game in charge is against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Saturday, said he had not planned the “Normal One” quote that made the headlines after his first news conference at Anfield.
“I’m not interested in that”.
Klopp was handed a three-year deal last week to replace Brendan Rodgers after the former Swansea boss failed to deliver a trophy during his three years on Merseyside.
Aubameyang, who has already scored 10 Bundesliga goals for Dortmund in just eight appearances so far this season, now has a contract which runs until 2020, putting Klopp’s old club firmly in control of any possible negotiations.
“Is Liverpool’s potential good enough to win the league?”
Following his £25million move from Southampton last summer, Lallana struggled to replicate the form that saw the Reds invest such a sum of money in him, due to an injury plagued season.
“In me, they’ve now hired a German who can not perform any miracles either”.
Liverpool development coach Pep Lijnders was previously on the staff at Porto and rates Neves as an outstanding talent, personally recommending them to the club’s new manager.
Carragher rather cryptically tweeted that he was “looking forward to working with Jurgen Klopp”, but many interpreted that to mean in his role as a Sky Sports pundit.
However, that has not prevented expectation among fans going through the roof since he was confirmed as manager. It’s usually accompanied by talk of rebuilding and needing time to strengthen the squad with players that can play “his” way, so it was refreshing to hear Klopp dismiss that suggestion and instead heap praise upon the players he has taken charge of.
This is a big challenge for me and my coaching team. “It is nearly a bit weird – there have been so many good and successful German managers and yet no one has been here”. “Progress is not possible without a bit of time”.
“I was asked and simply answered. Sometimes it’s better to keep your mouth shut, but in a press conference it’s pretty hard”.
