Lalu’s horse carts to take on BJP ‘raths’
BJP national spokesman Sudhanshu Trivedi said on Friday that his party did not believe in caste, nor had its president Amit Shah referred to PM Narendra Modi as belonging to the “OBC” category around a week ago.
Mr Shah accused Mr Kumar of backstabbing the mandate given to the NDA by the people of Bihar in 2010.
Behind Shah on the stage sat many chief ministerial ambitions from NDA ranks, but the BJP boss made it plain they formed merely the menagerie; their chosen gladiator for the battle for Bihar would come from higher up.
BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday launched the party’s high-tech “Parivartan Rath” campaign for the polls by flagging off 160 GPS-fitted “raths” here. Party workers will also indulge in door-to-door campaign for the polls. “We want to tell the people what BJP will do to develop Bihar”, the BJP leader said.
The rustic Lalu, known to read the pulse of the voters well, said that like Lord Krishna, he has to steer the rath of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to victory. “The Bihar assembly elections are crucial for the country”. The first one is Is Baar BJP, Ek Baar BJP and the second is Jai Bihar, Jai Jai Bihar. The friends-turned-foes turned friends again in recent times to counter the BJP led by Narendra Modi.
Underlining the strains within the secular alliance, he said while Nitish Kumar made it sure that Lalu’s images were absent from the posters put out to highlight the state government’s achievements, Congress president Sonia Gandhi “shunned” him.
This public engagement initiative by Nitish, who has joined palms together with his former adversary Lalu Prasad Yadav for the upcoming Bihar meeting polls, is aimed toward reaching out to the younger demography current on social media. Where is George Fernandes in their scheme?
Having so mocked his rivals Shah sounded what sounded like a warning to Biharis. If the NDA is not voted to power I can assure you there will be no electricity, no roads, no employment, no schools, no industry.
“Nitish Kumar, dictated by his dream of becoming the Prime Minister of India, severed ties with the NDA and brought the state to a standstill”.
