Lamar Odom, ‘Jurassic Park,’ Paris: What Was 2015’s Top Google Search?
“This year, we’re covering hundreds of news stories, sharing interactive guides and charts, and diving into the numbers by sharing things like how many times people searched for Adele (439 million, if you want to know)”, said Amit Singhal, senior vice president of Google Search in the blog post announcement. For example, Lamar Odom was the single most trending search in the US, while for South Africa, the term “load shedding” has more Google attention.
For example, the No. 1 trending search, surpassing even the Amazins’ World Series frenzy, was Lamar Odom, former National Basketball Association player and Keeping up with the Kardashians reality star husband. Charlie Hebdo was the second most searched item on the list.
And those events are among the top that drew the highest number of Internet searches, according to Google. Other tragedies this year, such as the shootings in Charleston, Chattanooga, and San Bernardino, sparked renewed searches for the topic of gun control in the United States. It ultimately wasn’t the most satisfying outcome for England, Scotland, Wales or Ireland, but it certainly got us searching.
Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother 2015 featured in the top ten trending tv shows after they were shown exclusively on TV3 during the Summer.
Another year, another list of top searches from the world’s most popular search engine. Its annual look back at A Year In Search highlighted what people Googled the most this year, from the Nepal quake to the discovery of water on Mars. While Twitter’s most influential topics were heavily centered on serious global subjects and social justice issues, Google’s top trends were across the board from Paris (No. 3), to Jurassic World (No. 6) to Hurricane Joaquin (No. 8).
In america, Odom topped the listing adopted by Jurassic World, American Sniper, Caitlyn Jenner, and Ronda Rousey.
