LaMarcus Aldridge has chosen to play for San Antonio – KLTV.com-Tyler
LaMarcus Aldridge will join the Spurs. After all, if Aldridge’s expiring contract had aligned with the salary cap boon of the NBA’s new TV deal, the Spurs would be just one of the contenders in the running for his services rather than the sole contender in a position to sign him. The 6-foot-11 power forward grew up in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and spent two years at the University of Texas in Austin – about 80 miles from San Antonio – before declaring for the 2006 draft.
LaMarcus Aldridge now has no plans to make out-of-town visits and, at this stage, plans to take “a couple of days” to digest all the pitches he’s received after meeting with multiple teams, sources told ESPN.com on Friday.
The Spurs agreed to a deal with Kawhi Leonard at the start of free agency reportedly worth $90 million over 5 years. With Duncan and LA on the same team, the Spurs will definitely be a force to reckon with both offensively and defensively. He met with whoever wanted to talk and sold him on a plan to win. “He would grow into being a franchise player”. Duncan recently announced that he would be returning for next season after his contract expired.
Think of the Los Angeles Clippers, who can’t afford to find a big man in Jordan’s caliber, despite all of his flaws and limitations.
Beverley averaged 10.1 points and shot a paltry 38 percent from the field, but he was an early-season candidate for defensive player of the year before missing the last three weeks of the regular season and the entire playoffs with an injured wrist.
Free agent guard Wesley Matthews agreed to sign with the Mavericks on a multi-year deal, according to reports.
Harris stays with Magic.
. The fact that might continue giving Blazers fans hope, though, is that Aldridge still hasn’t signed with another team.
With guards Brandon Knight (new five-year, $70 million deal) and Eric Bledsoe part of their package, the Suns have done well to even be this close in the race.
Yahoo Sports first reported the agreement.
But finishing as runner-up to the team the Suns’ fans love to hate, the San Antonio Spurs, left a hollow ring to the team’s concerted efforts to climb from mediocrity to relevance in the tough Western Conference.
If that is the case, the Knicks can now focus on centers, such as Robin Lopez, to come in as a rim protector next to Anthony.
