Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster revealed
Lamborghini has already sold all 600 units of the Aventador SV Coupe, which means that the production run of 500 roadsters likely won’t take long to sell.
A vision of drama, the new Aventador looks to be vintage Lamborghini, with the lack of roof only adding to the insane styling quirks of its coupe brother.
Less weight and more power. This is now capable of putting down a total of 750 HP (552 kW), allowing the model to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.8 seconds. “The Roadster version represents our commitment to satisfying our passionate clients with immensely emotional driving dynamics combined with an extraordinary open air experience”, Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini said during the press conference at The Quail.
The dry weight of the roadster is approximately 3,472 pounds, which makes it about 110 lbs heavier than the coupe, and its removable roof is a simple two-piece design that snaps into place.
Power is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed ISR transmission that can be left in automatic or controlled by shift paddles, and a Haldex-type four-wheel drive system. In addition, the Roadster will still do 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds – just one tenth down. And according to Lamborghini, performance is maintained when compared to the non-roadster version. The Roadster also features a pop-up rear windscreen that’s deployed via a button on the dash to tone down the buffeting that occupants are sure to get when then the open-top SV picks up its heels. Other features brought over from the hardtop model may include adaptive steering to help keep the SV planted on solid ground.
Lamborghini will begin deliveries of the Aventador LP 750-4 SuperVeloce Roadster in early 2016, with the vehicle being priced from €357,000 in Europe (excluding VAT) or $530,075 in the US. This is because it is made entirely from carbon fibre.
