Lana Del Rey Releases ‘Music To Watch Boys To’ Music Video Screenshots
Lana Del Rey’s West Coast was, of course, about Los Angeles but triple j’s Matt and Alex have spotted an opportunity to flip the track and pen a tribute to Australia’s west coast – Western Australia.
Del Rey’s new songs represent extensions from her previous ones.
In “Honeymoon Sampler”, a hazy, Polaroid-looking video with snippets and names of a few tracks on the album, Del Rey executes her infamous hipster style to perfection.
Last month, t a sample of her upcoming album, along with an artistic visual component, to fans itching for new music from the performer, who has been churning out major studio releases every year since 2012.
Four singles from the 14-track album have already been released. Nevertheless, it appears that America may not be the country that lines Lana Del Rey’s pockets when Honeymoon is released. It opens with the lyrics, “We both know it’s not fashionable to love me”, which is completely in accord with the self-deprecating, insecure, and romantic nature of Del Rey’s music.
“Music to Watch Boys To” is one of Del Rey’s favorites from the album and was originally set to be the lead single, but “High by the Beach” was chosen by the label to be released first.
The artist also maintains her alternative lyrics in songs like “Freak”, where she croons, “Baby if you wanna leave, come to California be a freak like me, too/ Screw your anonymity, loving me is all you need to feel, like I do”. In her handsome voice, she sings this slow jam for him.
Speaking with BBC DJ Huw Stephens, Del Rey described “Salvatore” as “the most different from all the other tracks on the record”. A creature of the past, Del Rey’s music often reflects common themes from history or religion.
