Land Rover recalls 65000 SUVs in US for door latch problem
Ford experienced a similar incident back in April, recalling 389,585 Fiestas, Fusions and Lincoln MKZs for faulty latches that caused doors to pop open during turns.
The latest recall comes less than six months after the Coventry, UK-based company rtecalled 61,793 Land Rover Range Rover SUVs and Range Rover Sport SUVs over front passenger airbag issue, and 74,648 Land Rover Range Rover SUVs to fix a brake hose problem.
This recall stems from a problem with the Range Rover’s keyless entry software, designed by Germany’s Brose Schließsysteme.
Doors that do not latch properly can open while the vehicle is in motion. Owners will be notified and the dealers will update the keyless entry software, free of charge. The adhesive and primer used to attach the affected sunroofs to the LR4 roof can weaken, causing excessive noise and water leakage. There is a risk of the panoramic roof assembly detaching from the model and this will increase the risk of a crash.
The other recall issued will be affecting 492units of the Land Rover LR4 made from the 15th of August 2012 until the 18th of September 2012. Owners can then take their vehicles to a Land Rover dealer, who will apply the correct primer to the panoramic roof.
Land Rover’s number for this recall is P065, and NHTSA’s is 15V386000.
