Landeskog Suspended 2 Games; Marchand Fined $5000
The National Hockey League has made a decision to suspend Gabriel Landeskog for his hit on Brad Marchand during Wednesday’s Boston Bruins/Colorado Avalanche game. Landeskog was ejected from Thursday’s contest following the hit, which resulted in Mikhail Grigorenko moving into Landeskog’s spot on the Colorado first line, where the Russian registered his third assist of the season.
The NHL’s Department of Player Safety also announced Friday that Marchand was fined $5,000 for roughing Landeskog. Marchand reportedly does as well. After slumping over on the ice for a few seconds, Marchand calmly stood, skated over to Landeskog and sucker punched him in the face. While Landeskog does make initial contact with the shoulder, the brunt of the contact is with the head.
Spooner gave the Bruins a power-play goal for the eighth straight game.
Duchene had just one goal in his first 11 games this season. “Especially [considering] I got a concussion a couple weeks back, so I was definitely nervous, but I’m happy I’m OK”.
The Bruins should consider this a major bullet dodged.
The Colorado center broke a tie in the third period with his sixth goal in five games and the Avalanche beat the Boston Bruins 3-2 on Thursday night. Just over his past five games, he has doubled his old scoring total two separate times, netting multi-goal games against the Calgary Flames and Philadelphia Flyers.
Rozsival, 37, has missed the entire season with a broken left ankle sustained during the Blackhawks’ Western Conference second-round series against the Minnesota Wild last season. Things would look even more grim offensively without Marchand, plus they’d be without another penalty-killer after already losing Chris Kelly. Marchand has been fined and suspended multiple times during his career.
ABOUT THE CANADIENS (13-2-2): While Berra has performed admirably, Mike Condon has started every game since Price’s injury and posted a. 932 save percentage during that span. “We obviously know what Pricer means to our lineup, and in our minds he’s the best player in the world”, forward Brendan Gallagher told reporters.
“You can argue either way, I think”, Landeskog said. It may not sound physically overwhelming; however, as players have acknowledged in regular season 3-on-3, there is an increased workload.
