Larrivee goes in-depth into Packers’ prayer of a miracle win
The Packers did a very good job coming back from a 17-0 deficit at halftime to win the game 27-23 on a Hail Mary pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers to tight end Richard Rodgers.
They were literally done at the 0:00 mark of the game when Rodgers was tackled on the last portion of a series of laterals in an attempt to replicate the play made famous by Rodgers’ alma mater, the Cal-Stanford “Band Is Out On The Field” walk-off touchdown. The Packers got another play, within Rodgers’ striking distance of the end zone, and Rodgers tossed the game-winner.
“I thought to myself, ‘Well, if [Aaron] can get it up there, [Richard] is going to go get it, ‘” Rodgers Sr. said. “When he caught it, I blacked out”.
Aaron Rodgers finished the contest 24-of-36 for 273 yards with two touchdown passes and one interception, while Richard Rodgers had career highs of eight receptions and 146 yards receiving with the one touchdown catch. I think the penalty should have been an incidental facemask (5 yards) and not a personal foul (15 yards), but a penalty is a penalty, and Rodgers would have still had a chance for his epic throw. “I mean, whatever the ref saw, he called, so there’s nothing I can do other than just keep playing at that point”.
The Packers practice the occasional hail mary, usually once in practice the day before a game. The NFL said after the Ravens-Jaguars game that the Jaguars players were not set and the play should have been whistled dead, causing the game to end.

For some reason, Detroit had guys all over the field.
The Packers needed good fortune to finally break through during their ensuing possession.
The Packers, who dont play again until they host Dallas on December 13, could be back atop the division after they return to work from having the full weekend off. The Vikings (8-3) have a home game against Seattle on Sunday.
The Packers didn’t get the ball back until 23 seconds remained.
“I never had a completed Hail Mary before”. The Packers had four receivers, Richard Rodgers included, converge on the football as it came down in the end zone.
