Lashkar could strike in Delhi
According to the LeT’s plan, if the strike at the gathering could not be executed as planned, the terrorists were asked to eliminate a high-value target in Delhi or Jammu and Kashmir which could have “political and communal ramifications”, the report added.
New Delhi: The Delhi Police successfully foiled a massive Lashkar-e-Taiba plot where an attack was being planned on prominent personalities and crowded areas in the national capital.
While much of the information received by the police is imprecise, they have received specific inputs on two suspected LeT operatives, Dujana and Ukasha, leading the alleged operation.
The police suspect this is done to ward off tech surveillance mounted by cops.
Police is looking for about 10 persons who infiltrated through Kashmir. The Delhi Police, which filed an FIR on December 1 naming Dujana and Ukasha as potential perpetrators of terror strikes in the capital and other cities, are keen to ascertain the identity of Ukasha.
The police have been advised to enhance security in the capital and also check throughly for suspicious objects.
According to the complaint, LeT is conspiring to carry out terrorist attacks in Delhi and other places in the country, for which alleged handlers have infiltrated operatives in India through Jammu and Kashmir and other worldwide borders, said the police source. A senior investigator said the two suspects could be Abu Dujana, a senior LeT leader, and his main aide Abu Ukasha. With its headquarters based in Muridke, near Lahore in Punjab province of Pakistan, the group operates several training camps in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Its stated objective is to introduce an Islamic state in South Asia and to “liberate” Muslims residing in Indian Kashmir.
