Last day for Web Summit
“Web Summit can confirm that the Taoiseach was invited to Web Summit taking place from 3-5 November”.
Web Summit founder Paddy Cosgrave has declined to appear on Friday’s The Late Late Show, despite being billed by RTE as one of the main guests.
The statement said, “We met and corresponded with the organisers, proposing full access to a dedicated facility for block booking rooms across Dublin”.
Growth is also the theme in the new video which has been released by the Portuguese tourism board, promoting the 2016 Web Summit. Will there be tears as the Web Summit and Dublin go their separate ways?
Despite the comments made by the organisers, the IHF said industry evidence shows that hotel room rates in Dublin are “highly competitive for the event”.
He acknowledged what the Web Summit has achieved in Ireland, but added that, “Lisbon will help the Web Summit to grow more internationally”.
“Even as 40,000 Web Summit visitors circulate in our city, bringing millions of euro in investment and tourist spending, Government ministers still can’t see past their own ego and realise the loss this event’s departure represents”.
Next year it will relocate to Lisbon in Portugal, after a high profile spat between founder Paddy Cosgrave and the Irish government over several organisational issues including traffic managent, wifi, and hotel prices.
