Last-minute shoppers hit the malls on Christmas Eve

Last minute shoppers went straight to the malls Saturday to fulfill Christmas wish lists with the hopes of getting a good deal. For now, these stores are operating on extended hours to accommodate the sudden splurge of people gearing up for Christmas Day.

Be a Lone Wolf Shopper – People who shop alone generally spend less money than those who shop with friends.

Large retail stores are open.

NJ Transit buses will operate on a modified schedule December 25 and 26.

Citibank: On Christmas Eve, branch locations will follow a regular schedule. In past years the store closed at 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Monday, Dec. 26 – 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Toys “R” Us, 2500 Elliot, will be open midnight to 9 p.m. Christmas Eve, and closed Christmas day.

Natalie Simmons, merchandise supervisor for JCPenney in Park Pineway Plaza, said they, too, have everything in the store on sale for Christmas.

And those looking for some other entertainment on Christmas Day 2016 will have at least one option – going out to the movies.

Kingston Access services: limited service December 25, 26, 27 and January 1. with expanded evening hours being offered on December 31 (in addition to regular service).

Kmart: Open until 10 p.m. Food City will close at 6 p.m. tonight and be closed on Sunday.

Saturday, Dec. 24 – 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Grocery Stores: Most will be closed December 25 and January 1 and will close at 6 p.m. on December 24, 26 and 31.

“That means Christmas Eve of course is a Saturday and that messes with our usual model of Christmas Eve being the busiest day of the year”.

CVS: Most 24-hour stores will remain open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. “During the Christmas period previous year, shoppers spent over £500,000 per hour”. Both major USA stock markets (the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ) are closed the dat after Christmas.

FortWhyte Alive is closed on Christmas Day.

The company is making a move that many of its workers will not be thrilled about as the retailer is closing considerably later than other stores.

Michelle King, a spokeswoman, said many of its locations will also be open on Christmas Day.

Both local and state government offices are closed. Closed Dec. 25 and reopen at 7 a.m. Dec. 26. Complete your banking as soon as possible, so you can have one less errand standing in your way of holiday fun.
