Last-minute song changes for Monica Michael and Lauren Murray
The third week of live shows was themed Movie Night with contestants singing songs from major Hollywood films.
But Monica reportedly rubbed salt in the wounds, by telling Ellen: “I’m glad I hurt you so much”. It has been widely claimed that the song choice drama could have added to her problems at the weekend and resulted in low votes.
On social media, many viewers branded her phrasing inappropriate in the light of Friday night’s tragic events in Paris, prompting Michael to post an apology. I had to come back strong and the song that I had was my comeback, I was going to rap in it and show the real Monica that people have seen previously.
Asked what song she was going to sing, she said: “I was going to sing Bang Bang Shot Me Down”. “I’m allowed to be as creative as I want”.
After Seann Miley Moore got voted out of the show last week, we didn’t think that it was possible for us to be left that stunned again, but before we knew it Max Stone and Monica Michael had left the competition, following an awkward blunder courtesy of Mr. Olly Murs.
Another chipped in, adding: “Monica Michael saying “bang bang” with gun fingers after Simon changed all songs to do with guns because it’s inconsiderate”. She hopes her story has inspired them and other young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue their dreams. “How disgusting and disrespectful of her to go “bang bang bang” silly silly girl!!” “It’s inspiration for me!”
As for her new set of X Factor friends, although she said she loves them all, she has a special place in her heart for Ché Chesterman, Mason Noise, Reggie “N” Bollie and Louisa Johnson, and hopes one of them will win.
Monica was not the only singer to leave The X Factor on Sunday night.
