‘Late Show’ Has Donald Trump Decipher Between His Own Quotes and Stephen
Colbert asked if Trump really wants to be president: “If you actually got the gig, would that be a step down for you?” One of the highlights of Colbert’s debut earlier this month was a bit in which Colbert gorged on Oreos while also gorging on Trump news coverage.
“For years I play an over the top, like, conservative, you know, character”, Colbert said, adding, “…not as long as you did, but I did for many years.
The GOP presidential front-runner was a guest of Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, discussing his campaign and sharing a few laughs with the host.
Colbert served up what he called a “big fat meatball” of a question, asking Trump, “Barack Obama, born in the United States?”
Trump said he would rather talk about jobs and veterans, but Colbert cut him off. “I’m not talking about that”.
Colbert, who recently took over the CBS show from David Letterman, has been interviewing almost all those running for president and last night was the turn of “The Donald”.
“You know, I don’t talk about it anymore”, Trump said, putting up his hands and pushing back on the question. Trump does pretty well, because he’s so self-absorbed I wouldn’t be surprised if he kept a scrapbook of his own favorite personal quotes.
After a round of applause from the audience, Trump offered his final answer to the tumultuous question. A Fox News spokesperson said Trump’s tweet came only after the O’Reilly cancellation.
The conversation then turned towards Trumps feelings on Immigration and the wall, he said he would build around the country if he gets elected president.
The Donald Trump bump strikes again. “I’m not sure that’s a good thing”.
For years, Stephen played an ultra-conservative version of himself on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report”, so Colbert chose to test the Trump’s memory by reading off some insane quotes. We need global warming” and “Medicare is like a nice set of cufflinks.
