The couple was killed in a gunbattle with police about seven hours after the initial shooting at the Inland Regional Center, which provides treatment for people with developmental disabilities.

The Dec. 2 shooting, which also wounded 21, was the deadliest act of terrorism on USA soil since September 11, 2001.
A pro-IS news agency, Aamaq, said Friday the mass shooting was perpetrated by sympathizers of the radical group, which has urged followers in the United States and elsewhere to carry out lone wolf attacks.

In addition, authorities found 19 pipes in the couple’s home that could be turned into bombs, Bowdich said.
Farook’s mother, who shared a home with the couple and their 6-month-old baby, lived in an isolated part of the house, he said.
The president said Congress should act to make sure no one on the U.S.no-fly list is able to buy a gun.
The attack took place inside a packed conference room rented by the county’s public health department for a year-end event, which Farook had been attending.
The environmental health services department employees will start working from December 14. The county, which operates out of hundreds of facilities, has stepped up security at its buildings, posting armed security guards at some locations.
