Lawsuit: Anti-abortion group secretly recorded providers
After an anti-abortion group released videos purporting to show Planned Parenthood doctors discussing the prices of fetal tissue for sale, House Republicans planned a congressional investigation and sparked national debate on the group.
Joined by male protesters, hundreds of women who felt “betrayed” by abortion service provider Planned Parenthood gathered in front of the US Capitol in Washington on Tuesday to denounce the deceptive activities of the company. “It is against the law for any organization to sell body parts“, Scott said in a statement. Planned Parenthood insists it has not broken the law and has stayed within federal statutes.
Recently, videos were released by the Center for Medical Progress, which is bringing new light to the controversy.
Tanya Atkinson, the executive director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin, said the organization is proud of its record serving women, men and families.
He was among a number of conservative lawmakers around the country who have called for investigations after an anti-abortion group circulated a video it made secretly showing some of its national officials discussing how they obtain organs from aborted fetuses for research. Planned Parenthood said in response that the videos had been edited heavily, and were also misleading the public.
TheBlaze also asked Earnest about a Senate Republican proposal to redirect the $500 million going to Planned Parenthood each year to less controversial community health centers that outnumber Planned Parenthood clinics, and provide the same screenings and other health services.
Planned Parenthood says that it has only a “limited” role in fetal tissue research, a field it said is dominated by leading medical institutions and the NIH.

Mills said in fact the controversial topic of fetal tissue donation doesn’t even apply here. The videos have prompted a push by Republicans in Congress to halt federal funding to the organization, which is the nation’s largest abortion provider.
