Ted Cruz on Friday offered an extended “apology” to those offended by his criticism of “New York values”, but rather than back down from his controversial comments, he instead slammed the Empire State’s “liberal politicians”.

At the debate, Cruz said: “Everyone understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal or pro-abortion or pro-gay marriage, focus around money and the media….” Trump responded movingly by citing the city’s response to 9/11.
No doubt, from the richest suit on Wall Street trying to fill his already oversized pockets, to the poorest mother of four working three jobs to put food on the table, everyone in NY is hustling to get that cash – but isn’t that just a microcosm of the entire country?
Meanwhile, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who consistently trail their more bombastic rivals in the polls, each looked to finally emerge as the favored establishment candidate before voting begins in Iowa and New Hampshire next month.

The billionaire businessman also tied concerns about Cruz’s citizenship to questions about loans for his 2012 Senate campaign that Cruz reportedly failed to disclose to the Federal Election Commission.
Aside from sounding caustic, some accused Cruz of being anti-Semitic after making those remarks.
“I guess the bromance is over”, Trump later summarized the encounter, CNN noted, in an allusion to the once-friendly relationship between the real estate tycoon and the Texas senator.
