Leafs name Lemaire special assignment coach
Just a few weeks after Lou Lamoriello resigned from the Devils to become the Maple Leafs’ new general manager, one of his former coaches, Jacques Lemaire, has been hired by the team as a special assignment coach.
I’d have to agree, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him hit 60. “Looking due to the outside with out that is actually regular tension, I feel We can help a really bit”.
“Obviously Jacques Lemaire contains a financial of…”
The 69-year-old said his friendship with Lamoriello made joining the Leafs an easy choice.
Lemaire, 70, has been a special assignment coach for the Devils since he retired as a head coach in 2011.
It wasn’t immediately clear what Lemaire’s role will be on coach Mike Babcock’s staff, as he joins assistants D.J. Smith, Jim Hiller and Andrew Brewer and goaltending coach Steve Briere.
Having Lemaire as part of the coaching staff is a huge plus for the organization. “It’ll be a thrill to be able to assist him”.
Lemaire’s schedule is still up in the air. He expects to be at training camp and work with not only Babcock but AHL Toronto Marlies coach Sheldon Keefe and his staff.
When asked last week about Lemaire potentially remaining with the Devils, Shero said he did not know what Lemaire’s plans were. “I’ll be watching all the games, making my reports, watching certain things that he wants me to look at”.
“It’s hard to say exactly”. I like to think those people appreciated me. Lemaire had just wrapped up his playing career, which ended with a stint in Switzerland as a player-coach, and was earning a comparative pittance as an assistant coach with Plattsburgh State College.
