Leah Remini Says She Feels Connected to Katie Holmes After Leaving Scientology
Actress Leah Remini is revealing alleged Tom Cruise Scientology secrets in her new tell-all memoir titled Troublemaker.
Remini has been a vocal opponent of church officials’ treatment of their followers since denouncing the organization in 2013, after serving as a member since the age of 10, when her mother became a Scientologist.
Remini, who says she was shocked by Bella’s words, reportedly nudged the kids about the fact that Kidman was still their mom.
Tom, Katie and Suri in 2006.
Remini said she now knows what Holmes was going through and said she left the church for similar reasons.
Remini claims in the book that before the ceremony itself, Cruise waited at the altar for 20 minutes before Holmes arrived, long enough for Remini’s longtime friend Jennifer Lopez to ask her, “Do you think Katie is coming?”
‘You live in roach-infested dorms with other children, ‘ Leah revealed to ABC about The Sea Org, the body with which Scientologists sign a billion-year contract committing themselves to work for the church.
Remini tried to hold back her tears when ABC News anchor Amy Robach read a statement from Holmes sent to ABC on October 30.
The New York Daily News reports that one story discusses an incident involving Tom and then-wife Katie Holmes’ daughter Suri Cruise, who was just seven-months-old at the time.
While sharing an airport shuttle after the wedding with Bella and her brother Connor Cruise, Remini claims that she took the opportunity to ask the siblings why they didn’t have a relationship with Kidman since their parents’ divorce in 2001.
“I’m smiling because it nearly makes me want to cry”, Remini said.
After the nuptials, Remini was written up and says she had to spend an estimated $300,000 for extensive “auditing” for upsetting the bride and groom.
She opened up about why she left the church for her daughter, since her daughter would be forced to not speak with her mom, as Leah is a “Suppressed Person”. “The church was really the one who invited them, on Tom’s behalf”, Remini explained in her 20/20 interview, Us Weekly reports. Leah’s husband, Angelo Pagan was in full support of her “20/20” tell-all, according to People.
“Basically they were just trying to get me to recant what I said, to apologize for ruining the wedding of the century”, Remini stated.
The actress may be the most high-profile celebrity to leave and voice criticisms against the church.
