Leaked Aston Martin DB11 is no Bond auto, but it’s pretty close
Aston Martin’s brand renaissance, known as the Second Century Plan, kicked off today at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show with the unveiling of the DB11.
The new pictures show the full auto, including the new front end with new headlights with LED daytime running lights, new grille and a new bonnet. The rear end is outright sexy and it seems the trunk hosts a built-in spoiler which is probably raised automatically at a certain speed.
There are no power figures around the twin turbo engine yet, but despite the 5.2-litre V12 being smaller in capacity, it will be the most powerful V12 in the company’s history. The new grand tourer is the direct replacement for Aston Martin’s aging DB9 and is the first model to be based on the British marque’s all-new platform. There are also rumors of Mercedes AMG sourced V8’s being dropped in the engine bay during the latter half of the car’s life cycle. It will replace the DB9, which is around 12 years old.
Aston had been keeping quiet about what the DB11 would look like, but word on the street was that it would bear a strong resemblence to the DB10, which was featured in and made exclusively for the last year’s Bond film, ‘Spectre’.
Of course, no official details are yet available, but the DB11 will borrow a number of components from Mercedes-AMG as part of Aston’s technical tie-up with Daimer, which owns a five per cent stake in the United Kingdom sports vehicle maker.
