LeBron James named as starter in 2016 NBA All-Star game
He is the only player in National Basketball Association history to record 30 or more points in four consecutive All-Star games (2011-2014).
He has been selected as a starter for the Eastern Conference in a vote by the fans for the 2016 NBA All-Star Game. James was the leading vote-getter in the Eastern Conference with a grand total of 1,089,206 votes.
Thunder forward Kevin Durant and guard Russell Westbrook were both named starters for the Western Conference in February’s NBA All-Star Game. Last season, Westbrook received All-Star game MVP honors after posting a game-high 41 points to go along five rebounds at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This All-Star Game will be Westbrook’s fifth.
He is just the sixth player to start in at least 12 All-Star Games, joining Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan and Bob Cousy.
This season, James has averaged 27.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.7 steals in 39.1 minutes of play over 39 games.
That being said, the usual suspects are all present, as LeBron James and company will be headed to Air Canada Centre next month to be a part of the NBA’s fluffiest weekend of the year.
Representing the East will be: LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Kyle Lowry, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony.
