LeBron James to wear Chicago Cubs uniform tonight after losing bet

Down three games to one at one point in the best-of-seven matchup, the Cubs defeated the Cleveland Indians, 8-7, in Game 7 of the World Series at Progressive Field on November 2 and claimed their first league championship since the 1908 season.

What followed was good-natured basketball. But after Cleveland lost 111-105 to the Chicago Bulls on Friday, James decided enough was enough and that the Cavs need to step it up.

“I gotta wear it, I gotta wear it”, James said Thursday night, in anticipation.

There have already been points this season when the Cavaliers have looked untouchable in the Eastern Conference, but the last week has been a reminder that nothing comes easy in the National Basketball Association. We’ve got to battle every night like we ain’t won nothing. They held the Cavaliers to 10 free-throw attempts, with James failing to get there once.

“For me, it’s just putting my leadership and my stamp on this organization knowing that I can help, ” Wade said recently.

The man who often describes himself as “just another kid from Akron” took to Twitter and extended the honor to his family, fans, team, and his foundation. And whenever you do that, it’s no surprise to ya’ll, it’s no surprise to us, the amount of success he’s having.

As James walked through the arena before Friday night’s game, he was met by a gleeful Wade, who videotaped his rival. “You already won the bet”, James said. It did mean more, he said.

Wade’s two-year, $47 million contract stipulates what the Bulls organization will pay him, but it remains too early to gauge the overall value of a player whose signing stopped the credibility drain from the franchise. Kevin Love posted 16 points and 4 rebounds while J.R. Smith and Tristan Thompson were limited to 3 points apiece. “Look at him, he looks great”.

It was in those final minutes that Wade sealed the contest.

Chicago dominated Cleveland 78-60 in the paint and came out on top despite shooting 3 of 18 on 3-pointers. But looking past the raw numbers, it was the shots Rondo took, and the passes he made, that allowed the Bulls to play so efficiently on offense and ultimately come away with their most impressive victory of the year. “He brings the best out of everyone”. That’s how the Bulls win. The Bulls were lead by small forward Jimmy Butler with 26 points.

And then there’s this: Cristiano Felicio and Bobby Portis were both DNP-CDs.

Expect the Cleveland Cavaliers to go all out in this game and make up for their poor performance losing two games in a row.

Amid all that, the Bulls still traced the win to their toughness more than anything. “We off the chain”, James said. “So now [coach Erik] Spoelstra has to text [Heat President Pat] Riley and say, ‘What do I do in this situation?’ And Pat, who has iron-fist rules, answers, ‘You are on the plane”.

Added Butler: “We know what we’re capable of”.
