LeBron signs 2-year contract with Cavaliers
The Cavaliers can exhale for another year.
Once James signs the contract, it would be the first time the National Basteball Association superstar will re-sign with a team. His impact upon this team, his community and the game are impossible to overstate and we look forward to continuing on our mission together.
To whatever degree James was focus on his contract before he signed, he can now fully turn his attention to some of his offcourt commitments.
Although the Cavs have 10 players under contract, one of those includes Brendan Haywood, who isn’t expected to be on the team for much longer.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have not released the details of the deal, but Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reported earlier this week that it was a 2-year, $4.3 million with a player option.
The Cavaliers also announced the signing of Mo Williams to a contract Friday, and on Thursday signed Kevin Love and Iman Shumpert. He finalized the agreement shortly before hosting a private screening for a new movie in which he has a supporting role.
Four-time National Basteball Association Most Valuable Player James played for Cleveland to start his National Basteball Association career but left in 2010 for Miami and powered the Heat into four National Basteball Association Finals in a row, twice winning the National Basteball Association crown.
The 30-year-old has indicated he will finish playing career with the Cavs, who went from being a lottery team to Eastern Conference champions in James’ first season back. The 31-year-old averaged 8.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 73 games for the Bucks last season.
The 11-time All-Star finished third in the MVP voting, a slight that seemed to motivate him during the post-season.
In his first season back with the Cavs, he led them to the National Basteball Association Finals, only to lose in six games with a depleted roster to the Golden State Warriors. He started in all 20 games during the Cavs’ National Basteball Association Finals run in the 2015 Playoffs, recording an NBA-high 14 double-doubles (three triple-doubles) and averaging 30.1 points, 11.3 rebounds, 8.5 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.1 blocks in 42.2 minutes per game.
