Legacy HS coaches identified in DIA bus crash that killed driver
Two of those taken to hospital following the crash were in a critical condition, Denver Medical Centre told NBC News.
The driver of the pickup truck was also taken to the hospital for injuries.
The vehicle was circling back to the airport for an unknown reason when it crashed.
Paramedics were working to remove the driver from the crumpled bus.
“Really, our focus needs to be making sure our students and staff are cared for”, he said.
The crash happened at 4:08pm airport spokesman Heath Montgomery said.
“Through a collaborative discussion with district and school leadership, football staff, parents and students, the decision has been made that the Legacy High School varsity football team will play its homecoming game”, the post read.
Legacy High School is in Broomfield, Colorado, and is part of Adams 12 Five Star Schools.
Sgt. Mike Farr says the bus was going 30 to 40 miles per hour – normal speed for that lane is about half that.
– Three students were injured when the school bus they were riding on collided with a pickup truck near Lakeland. Chopper worked for Adams 12 Five Star Schools for four years, and had passed her mandatory Department of Transportation physical on May 10.
The Legacy High team had played a game Friday against Chino Hills High School in suburban Los Angeles. Players on the bus were members of the varsity and junior varsity teams.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The school bus was transporting 20 children to Kathleen High School. The hospital wouldn’t release more details.
“I kept calling my wife’s phone, saying it can’t be, it can’t be, but I just knew deep down inside, I just had this feeling”, said husband Joshua Chopper.
