LeGarrette Blount: Suffers Sprained MCL
A non-injury issue will keep Blount out of the first game.
A report suggests that New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount will miss the rest of his side’s pre-season due to suffering an MCL sprain during practice.
Blount, who among other things appeared to be having his right knee examined by the athletic training staff, walked off the field slowly under his own power after remaining down for a few minutes.
In Blount’s case, that just means he’ll get an extra week to rehab.
The Patriots were down a running back for Friday’s practice session.
With Blount injured, Jonas Gray and Brandon Bolden will handle backfield duties for New England. MCL sprains typically have 2-4 week recoveries.
Of course, Blount actually began training camp on the non-football injury list after he failed his conditioning test, so Belichick likely isn’t his biggest fan at the moment.
