LEGO Batman Swipes Left On DC Heroes In New Promo Clips
The new Commissioner Gordon is introduced as having cleaned up Gotham’s sister city “with statistics and compassion”, and Batman finds time to ding the Suicide Squad: “Letting criminals out of prison to fight crime?”
Headed up by the Joker (voiced by Zach Galifianakis), the crew of Arkham Asylum’s finest features well-known icons such as the Penguin (patterned after Danny DeVito’s waddler in 1992’s Batman Returns), Egghead and King Tut (both from the 1960s Batman TV series), plus lesser-known obscurities Kite Man, Gentleman Ghost and Crazy Quilt.
With Will Arnett huskily voicing the Dark Knight, the film also offers an intriguing twist on Batman lore – one considerably more nuanced than that set out in the meat-headed Batman V Superman last summer. Watching Dick’s quavering neediness play off against Batman’s brusque manner is a lot of fun, especially when we know that Bat-heart is going to warm to Robin sooner or later.
“LEGO Batman” is a PG-rated movie that is probably even more fun for adults than for kiddos.
The new “The Lego Batman Movie” will surely took the world by storm with its hilarious approach to the legendary Batman franchise. I was lucky to be able to see it early and here is what I thought of it. This isn’t the film you expect that from, but you oddly appreciate that it has it.
This is a VERY witty script full of jokes, gags and witticisms; surprisingly so because there were so many writers. Billy Dee Williams, for example, briefly reprises his 1989 role as Harvey Dent. The beauty with this voice cast is that it doesn’t just sound like a group of celebrities coming together to sound like celebrities.
The LEGO NINJAGO Movie hits theaters on September 22nd.
2017 is perhaps WB/DC’s most important year ever.
At the recent press day I got to sit down with Will Arnett (Batman) for an exclusive video interview. Brand synergy, everybody! Seriously, though: The Lego Ninjago Movie’s trailer is here, and it’s a pretty good time. It’s an enjoyable film that has the ideal blend of humor, drama and stunning animation that is fitting for the dark knight. “You’ve never seen an animated movie with action designed by Jackie Chan”, Lin pointed out. The Zack Snyder-helmed flick underwhelmed but Affleck’s turn as one half of the dueling duo was a highlight.
Robin is there to help whether Batman likes it or not in “The Lego Batman Movie”.

Then, Batman’s life is turned upside down when the attractive Barbara Gordon (Rosario Dawson) becomes the new police commisioner, and he accidentally adopts an orphan named Dick Grayson (Michael Cera), who becomes his sidekick, Robin.
