Lehigh Valley Weather: Temperatures take a nose dive
Wednesday night will be very cold with temperatures of around -2 to -3C.
By Friday our temperature will reach the mid-40s under a mostly cloudy sky. You can reduce your risk of frost bite by wearing layers of clothing in addition to a hat and gloves. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Arctic air returns for the weekend into the start of next week. Highs in the upper 30s and lows in the low 20s.
Light snow will prevail this evening but, in terms of impact, this is a pretty minor event (although it did cause some slow-downs in the afternoon rush hour).
Tonight: A chance of snow showers, mainly before midnight.
A track right over southern New England would mean rain at the coast with snow inland, but it’s too early to say where exactly the rain/snow line would set up.
One round of snow has already moved through the area and two more rounds are still expected, Zontini said.
The National Weather Service is predicting a brief break in rain after the storm moves east. Then a weaker storm moves in Thursday afternoon or night, followed by another stronger wet weather system on Friday night. Wind chill values as low as 7 below in the morning. Colder with highs around 16. We warm up considerably Thursday, with readings soaring into the mid 50s with breezy southwest winds.
Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 14.
