Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri makes pizza promise to players
Foxes boss Ranieri says it’s no laughing matter for Premier League defences when Riyad Mahrez starts running at them.
The Foxes had looked like losing after wonderful curling efforts from Jack Grealish – his first goal for Villa – and Carles Gil put the visitors in the driving seat.
“But of course my knowledge is important”.
Mahrez has formed part of a formidable attacking unit this season at Leicester which, due to the pace they possess, Ranieri has likened to the Royal Air Force. “Beware, because it’s a hard match on Saturday for us”, Ranieri said.
Ranieri’s light-hearted comments come in the wake of what has been a fantastic start for the Foxes, who must fancy their chances against an underwhelming Stoke side.
He added: “I told them, if you keep a clean sheet, I’ll buy pizza for everybody”.
And Ranieri is willing to satisfy his team’s tastebuds should Leicester record their first shutout of the campaign. “But I am very confident that referees will know that”. I will make a decision nearer to the time, whether or not I feel he’s ready to start.
Stoke made some big-name signings in the summer with many tipping them to be in and around the Europa League places this season, however it has not proven to be so far, with Mark Hughes’ side taking just two points from a possible 15.
“Defeat is only behind the corner so you have to be very focused and concentrate”.
“We must concentrate and keep our feet on the ground”.
“At the moment there are no injuries”, he said.
Dyer was severely dazed after taking a serious hit from Brad Guzan while scoring his header against Villa, but is fit to play at the Britannia Stadium.
