Leicester City 0-0 Manchester City
CLAUDIO Ranieri described as “unbelievable” Leicester City’s season to date and the Foxes have undeniably been the Premier League’s surprise package.
Spurs are now fourth in the table and just four points behind their local rivals heading into 2016.
Leicester next faces Tottenham twice in back-to-back FA Cup and Premier League matches at White Hart Lane.
But Ranieri’s team silenced their critics with another superb performance as they more than held their own against City, and the coach said he was pleased with how they bounced back.
Ranieri also insisted that he went for a win against City. “For us it’s important to concentrate 100 percent”.
Restricting Vardy and Mahrez to just one chance apiece in the first-half was an achievement in itself for City, with the two Leicester attackers accounting for 28 of the 37 league goals scored by the team ahead of this game.
“It is speculation, I can’t help you”, said Ranieri when asked about Dragovic. “We have played everyone now and we have showed we are more than capable of playing up there with the best of them”, he said.
We can only wait and see what the very unpredictable Foxes can come up with in the next few games.
With Kasper Schmeichel in fine form in goal against his old side, Leicester deservedly frustrated City, who remain three points behind them.
Cherries boss Eddie Howe felt it should not have been a penalty and praised his team for the way they battled to earn a point.
The coach describes his team as the basement while the other teams are a villa with a swimming pool.
“We started the season strongly, but we have not been great over the last 12 games or so”. We did 39 points in the first half (of the season) so in the second half we try to make 40 points. “We were calm, tried to do our job”.
Leicester now sit level on points with Arsenal at the top of the table, and with Mahrez and Vardy having been so impressive they have attracted attention from a host of “bigger” clubs. It’s fantastic. We didn’t score but it’s another clean sheet and champagne for my players, of course.
Leicester earned promotion to the English top flight in the 2014-15 season after they won the Football League Championship the previous season under the guidance of Nigel Pearson.
