Leicester City vs Manchester United
Several fans have questioned the dip in form of proven attackers under the Manchester United manager and now it seems the players believe it as well.
“That game [against Leicester], I said also in the press conference after, we lost because the referee gave a penalty, against Rafael, I remember that very well”.
Many would not have predicted Leicester to be sitting atop of the standings after 13 games, but they have been irresistible so far this season. The spirit of our group is so strong.
“I think it’s good Jamie has this – maybe all his team-mates will try to help him”. I also think that they should be shown some respect considering they are now league leaders. We are very happy.
“At this moment, he doesn’t play in the striker’s position, Martial is playing there”, Van Gaal said.
He leads a defence which has conceded just nine times in 13 league games this season, and three of those came in a mad 19 minute spell in a single game against Arsenal. “It is an open season but our goal is 40 points”.
“But in England because of the quality of the teams, because every team has the money to buy players – and they have bought players – the difference in the Premier League between the clubs in level is not so high”.
Ashley Young is eager to rebound from that setback with a victory against the table-toppers, which would see his side end the weekend in first place. It’s a top of the table clash with many footballing neutrals not expecting that to be the case in November.
“We’ve just got to pick ourselves up now and go again at the weekend”.
Matty James (knee) is Leicester’s only injury concern.
Phil Jones, Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera are all still doubtful, while Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw remain definite absentees.
Although, United won their last Premier League game, they struggled but they will be looking to put a better performance against the in-form Leicester City side.
“At the start of the game, Man United will have the possession and Leicester will be the team that can create havoc on the counter-attack”. Louis van Gaal’s team haven’t been pretty, but they continue to grind out results and are starting to emerge as genuine title contenders after being written off by most before a ball was even kicked.
Vardy’s meteoric rise has encouraged the striker to launch a new academy to find the next generation of players who can make the giant leap from non-league football to the top tier.
