Leicester complete signing of Napoli’s Gokhan Inler on three-year deal
But the Italian is pleased to have wrapped up the Inler deal to clinch Leicester’s sixth summer signing.
The Foxes manager, Claudio Ranieri was in need of a midfielder who could step into the Esteban Cambiasso’s role, following the Argentine’s move to Olympiakos, and is happy to see the Swiss arrive.
The club have had a productive summer in the market after bringing in Yohan Benalouane, Christian Fuchs, N’Golo Kante, Robert Huth – on a permanent deal – and Shinji Okazaki.
“I had many teams chasing me but in the end I decided with my heart and I came to Leicester City”, he said. “With the coach, with the owners, the facilities, the club, the team; I saw how they play and I think I can help how they play. I watch it a lot of times and I like it”.
The Swiss midfielder could make his debut when Leicester host Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
Wins against Sunderland and West Ham United mean Leicester have collected 28 points from the last 33 available – the best tally of any side in the top flight.
‘I am very happy.
“I remember when nobody wanted to go to Napoli”.
Foxes coach Kevin Phillips told talkSPORT regarding Inler earlier this week: “I believe there may be something happening this week but that department isn’t really down to me. I like that”, he added. I love playing with my team. “I will give my positive energy to them”.
For those who care about such things, Inler will be leaving his long-worn 88 shirt behind in Italy, as English tradition frowns on such high numbers worn by footballers.
