Leicester Owner: Vardy Could Reject Arsenal
Arsenal have activated a £20million release clause in the Premier League champions contract and verbally agreed a three-year, £120,000-a-week deal that allows for a further 12 month extension.
However, Arsenal boss Wenger expects the former Fleetwood frontman to remain at the King Power Stadium.
Vardy likens the jump from club to global football as similar to those between the other rungs he has scaled up the footballing ladder and he brings a fearless determination to his work for Hodgson’s side, one solidified by 24 Premier League goals on Leicester’s march to glory last season.
Asked why he had blocked Chapman, who the reporter described as being “such a nice a guy”, Vardy said with a smile: “Lee Chapman? I’m just concentrating on England at the moment”.
And when quizzed ahead of England’s clash with Slovakia on Monday Vardy refused to be drawn on what his future holds.
England manager Roy Hodgson praises substitutes Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy following their come-from-behind win over Wales.
In the build-up to the game Vardy was pictured drinking an energy drink and holding a tin of chewing tobacco, and he admits that is the sum total of any weight training.
“He will still go for a run every day to keep fit, but then he’ll lie on a sun lounger and listen to some music”.
“A lot of people don’t know exactly what I’ve had to go through to get to this position”.
“They’ve tried to drag me to the gym, but not succeeded”.
“It’s definitely not just the Red Bulls, put it that way”.
Arsenal wouldn’t be able to give Dembele regular first-team football, as he’s not quite as refined as someone like Olivier Giroud.
“That’s just how I am, everyone’s different”.
The Leicester forward, whose goal helped England beat Wales 2-1 in Lens, added: “The nicotine pouch is not something I need regularly”. I’ve got two big cracks in my wrist which need a bone graft after the tournament.
But could he just be trying to play with Vardy’s psychology and convince the striker to say? Everyone’s ready and waiting to make an impact. It’s as simple as that.
