Leicester’s January transfer business is done, says Ranieri
Harry Kane came off the bench to salvage a replay for Spurs with minutes remaining in a thrilling FA Cup tie at White Hart Lane.
“It doesn’t make it easy [for Leicester], but we are confident in our policy, the owner wants to arrive at the top. I saw them after Manchester City, Manchester United and Bournemouth and they were very sad – and that is good”.
Claudio Ranieri’s side are now second in the table, two points behind leaders Arsenal and four ahead of fourth place Spurs.
“It’s completely different because we will change the players. We have 40. Fantastic”, added Ranieri.
Mauricio Pochettino hailed Harry Kane’s 50th goal for Spurs for “keeping us alive” in The Emirates FA Cup.
Both sides rotated their players at the weekend, perhaps not wanting to give too much away for this key encounter.
The Foxes will be without Jamie Vardy after the 15 goal man underwent minor surgery on a groin problem, the England global will not be rushed back in fear of his aggravating it even further.
Oxford pulled off the shock of the FA Cup third round with a 3-2 victory over Premier League Swansea.
These players’ inclusions here was a sign of Pochettino’s faith in them, but also a sign that the starting XI needed a rest. “This morning he joined in the warm up with the team and then trained differently, so tomorrow I will check”.
“But the League is the priority and so I think of Tottenham on Wednesday and then Aston Villa [on Saturday]”.
Leicester fans around the Tavern hardly got started celebrating their incoming players this window before it was over after talkSPORT reported that manager Claudio Ranieri has declared that the club’s January transfer business is already over. “We just want to keep that going in every competition”.
However, it should be noted that Leicester have failed to find the net in each of their last three Premier League matches, while Spurs have conceded just five goals in their last nine league matches on home soil.
“The club is in a good shape, we have a great future and I’m raring to go so we will see what happens”. Pochettino has admitted he is likely to make a raft of changes to his side following a busy festive period, but insists he will respect the competition despite the focus being on the league.
