Len Goodman insists hit TV show is Strictly not fixed
Last year, Goodman announced that he won’t be returning for season 21 as he wanted to spend more time with his family, and it was reported that he had scheduling conflicts with “Strictly Come Dancing”, the British version of the ABC show which he also appears on.
Overall, we give this news a ideal score.
When Alesha Dixon performed his show-stopping routine on series five, we were convinced she was about to become the next Beyoncé. Listen up: Len is coming back next season.
Are you as excited for Len’s return as we are? As for the pros I have a mention for you as well. “Never have I ever had a producer come up to me and say, ‘Mark so and so a bit higher, we’d love them to stay in.’ Never”.
Goodman has insisted that this didn’t affect the judges’ decision, saying: “Now, when it comes to the dance off, you just mark on what you see with this dance”. Now you finalists, I want you go to give it your all in these last dances. “We just come out, say what we see, and give a score”, he told Zoe Ball on It Takes Two on Wednesday.
She explained in the post that additional – including the re-recorded standing ovation – were filmed during a break while the set was being changed for Jamelia’s routine to allow Sunday’s show to be “stitched together seamlessly in the edit”. The judges are with a producer who in all likelihood knows the previous week’s voting figures.
Len’s comments come after Jamelia hit out at Strictly, implying the show had fixed the competition so that Peter would survive the dance off.
Speaking about his experience on the show so far, the singer and TV presenter added: “It’s a lot harder than I thought”.
The BBC responded saying: “Peter did get a spontaneous standing ovation as soon as he finished his dance”. She said he did get the audience on their feet and that extra continuity shots were taken during the four minutes it took to get the props off the stage.
