Lenovo updates Moto G range, picks Alexa for Moto Z
In South America, it’ll come to Columbia and Brazil, where the Moto G series has become extremely popular over the years. Motorola said that it will snap onto the back of its Moto Z phones and will include features found in portable consoles.
A Full HD display is included in the Moto G5 Plus. Pricing is yet to be confirmed. Join us as we run down the main differences. For this matter, Motorola believes that the upcoming Moto G5 will be the first on the buy list of every smartphone enthusiasts mainly because it will correct the many wrongs of Moto G4. Motorola has dropped the Play model from the range, presumably because it was confusing for consumers.
One of the most impressive of Motorola’s new Mods adds wireless charging capabilities to any Moto Z on the market. The G4 and G4 Plus stood a towering 5.5 inches, which dwarfs the G5’s 5-inch screen. The Moto G5 Plus, however, will be up for sale in the U.S. at $299.
However, there’s been no drop in sharpness. The resolution is still in Full-HD, which is important for ensuring sharpness of display.
The Alexa Mod, which doesn’t have a release date, works as a dock, offering always-on listening and a loud Harman-made speaker to answer questions while the Moto Z is docked. In this case, the two phones are using Android Nougat.
While the G4 and G4 Plus didn’t come with Android Nougat out of the gate, it is available as an update.
Its hardware is created to make you forget about the fact that this is a budget phone. The Moto G5 starts at €199 with 2GB RAM/16GB storage, while the G5 Plus starts at $229 United States dollars with 2GB RAM/32GB storage and €279 for 3GB RAM/32GB storage. Storage can be amped up to 256GB with the help of a microSD card. We’ll keep you posted.
Now this is curious. While users can choose from 2GB, 3GB and 4GB RAM units, storage options will vary from 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions. This makes the smartphone easier to handle and should appeal to a new generation of buyers. Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and comes coupled with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage.
We found the G4 Plus bested top-end rivals such as the Galaxy S7 past year, so I expect similarly stellar performance this time around.
Again, there’s a odd downgrading at play here.
On the other hand, the smaller Moto G5 comes with a 2,800 mAh battery, along with 13MP rear camera. Lenovo promises a long battery life, sufficient for a day of heavy use. The G5 has a regular 13-megapixel image sensor. The camera is supported by other features such as dual-LED flash, 4K video recording, f/1.7 aperture and a 5MP wide-angle front-facing camera.
Both devices have a fingerprint sensor on the front within a capacitive button, which looks more like what HTC offers on its devices rather than the square found on the G4 Plus and they both have the volume rocker and power button in the same place.
We’ve already seen Huawei and ZTE push premium features into lower-priced phones this year with the Honor 6X and Blade V8 Pro, respectively.
