Leonardo DiCaprio Explains Spooked Reaction to Lady Gaga at the Golden Globes
Leonardo DiCaprio edged one step closer to Oscar glory in early 2016 after winning Best Actor for The Revenant at the Golden Globes.
Well this year, the Countess Lady Gaga just won her first Golden Globe for her role on “American Horror Story: Hotel”.
For her first-ever major acting prize, the 29-year-old pop star beat out such fierce competition as Queen Latifah (Bessie), Kirsten Dunst (Fargo), Sarah Hay (Flesh & Bone) and Felicity Huffman (American Crime). A popular singer, Gaga, who usually chooses freaky outfits for her appearances, was dressed in a simple black ensemble with a flattering neckline. Awards season! Thus, the Golden Globes happened. She added, “Thank you you to my wonderful cast, I love you so much, you guys are my family”. “Not even Sean Penn will be able to find me”. It won awards for best supporting actress (for Kate Winslet) and best screenplay (Aaron Sorkin).
That drama-vs.-comedy distinction is easily the way in which the Globes most abuse their position in the awards scene, since so few people make musicals anymore, and “comedy” is so broadly defined that practically anything can qualify.
Gaga continued her list of thank-yous until the orchestra started to play her off and concluded with a comic untruth: “I’m truly speechless”.
The Amazon series “Mozart in the Jungle” was named best comedy.
Best foreign language film went to Hungary’s Laszlo Nemes’ “Son of Saul”, a harrowing view of life inside Auschwitz.
