Les Miles’ $15 million buyout not an issue for LSU boosters
The three game losing streak is the first at LSU since 1999, the season Gerry DiNardo was sacked.
“If he wins them both, that complicates it”, continued Anderson, a Board of Supervisors member on and off since 1997. It’s not just the number of losses, but the quality of the losses.
Perhaps more importantly, Kelly didn’t throw an interception for the second straight game.
The LSU Tigers travel to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium to face the Ole Miss Rebels in a huge SEC showdown. He has seven double-digit win seasons – 2005, ’06, ’07, ’10, ’11, ’12 and ’13.
The Tigers committed 13 penalties – five on the kickoff after Ole Miss made an opening field goal and on LSU’s ensuing drive.
Miles said he would address his job situation with his players at their usual meeting on Monday.
Fisher used to be an assistant under Alabama head coach Nick Saban who once coached the Tigers. “And it’s time to step up. I think we have a guy that can throw it”, he continued.
To that end, representatives of the football program have begun to vet potential replacements for Miles through back channels, the source said, with a preference for an established head coach.
But in the span of just two Saturdays, with two humbling losses to Alabama and Arkansas, the ice has thinned under Miles’ feet to the point where strong indications are that he will be coaching for his very job at Ole Miss on Saturday and the week after that against Texas A&M. “It’s the way they lost the two games”. The Tigers finished 8-5 and 4-4. LSU went on to finish 8-5 in 2014.
Ole Miss’ offense is so dynamic it’s incredible the Rebels aren’t in the Big 12. The tricky aspect of all this is the $15 million buyout clause embedded in Miles’ contract. With a win against Texas A&M next week, LSU will finish the regular season 9-3.
A video was posted to Facebook by Holly Barnes, who said her husband, Chris was attacked by security and blamed for something that happened a few rows above. “We’ve got two games left”.
Late in the game, facing a 4th and goal from the Ole Miss 3, LSU called a timeout.
Will that be enough to hand LSU a third consecutive loss for the first time this millennium? “We thank the Ole Miss family for their concern and encouragement, and we appreciate everyone respecting the family’s privacy during this time”. “We’re going to be ready”.
Those two reasons, combined with LSU’s inconsistent offense and spotty defense, have landed Les Miles firmly onto the dreaded hot seat.
