Les Miles carried off field by his players after LSU win
“Les is our football coach and will continue to be our football coach”, Alleva said.
Throughout the past two weeks or so, the college football community was collectively up in arms with the way the LSU administration was treating Les Miles. Tigers boosters apparently are trying to buy out the about $15 million remaining on Miles’ contract.
The success Miles stated Alleva & the school president told him after the game in that they wanted him to continue as coach.
A source told Schad on Friday that LSU leadership was “heavily in favor” of a change but that a final decision had not been made and that Miles had not been formally informed he would not return.
“There’s not a serious overhaul (to be done) because the motor seems to be pretty stinking strong”, Miles asserted.
While at the game, O’Neal also took the opportunity to show some love for another person who now figures prominently in the LSU athletic landscape, and who also does not appear to be staying in Baton Rouge much longer. Fournette 8-yard run to the A&M 20. The previous record holder was Charles Alexander, who rushed for 1,686 yards during the 1977 season. Could the coach with a 111-32 career record in 11 seasons in Baton Rouge really be on the verge of losing his job?
If Les Miles’ tenure at LSU was to be over, his players gave him a farewell to remember.
Alleva added: “We’re going to go forward together and win championships here at LSU”.
“I expect to talk to him whenever it’s appropriate to talk to him, at whatever time”, Miles said. He averaged 10.8 yards per catch and five yards per carry in LSU’s 19-7 win over the Aggies. “We didn’t do a good job of taking care of the football, and LSU did a great job of taking it away”.
LSU, which trailed 7-6 at the half, took its first lead in the second half of a SEC game since beating Florida on October 17 when Guice scored around end after lining up in the slot. And if LSU loses its bowl game in desultory fashion, Miles’s seat will start to warm right back up.
“We were on the quarterback at all times”, said LSU Defensive End Lewis Neal.
On keeping LSU in check in the first half… Then players carried Miles off the field.
