Les Miles’ Final Game with LSU?

It would have been quite a send-off, except LSU’s administration doesn’t want him going anywhere after all.

Les Miles’ final game with LSU could be on Saturday, ESPN.com reported, citing another media report. Miles also reportedly said he would not be coaching a bowl game. “Les and I have talked”.

If LSU’s final games are a referendum on the coach’s tenure, then it isn’t going well, but the AD will wait until after the season. “But we put our heads down, we fought to get better this week and we fought for victory and we showed our support”.

Just looking at the last several weeks, Arkansas has looked like a contending-level SEC team. Regardless of recent struggles, though, Miles is still the most successful head coach in LSU history. The score capped an 80-yard, seven-play march that featured a 47-yard completion from Allen to wide receiver Josh Reynolds to the LSU 18.

But if LSU does not get Fisher or someone like him, Miles Fatigue will become something worse – mediocrity.

While there are also sources that say Miles will not be fired, the possibility of his firing has attracted the attention of other schools, including Missouri.

There are reasons to be optimistic as Miles continues to be the Tigers’ coach. The coach tipped his trademark baseball cap to acknowledge the crowd, raising the volume a little more. The division titles, the championship games and the national title all came between 2005 and 2011. LSU could have had a nine-win regular season if not for lightning canceling the season opener against heavy underdog McNeese State.
